Primary Prevention Education

Engaging men in conversations about sexual violence is a critical aspect of creating supportive and informed environments committed to violence prevention. Preconceived notions of masculinity and gender roles can often derail these conversations or prevent them from happening altogether. This webinar will explore why engaging men about sexual violence is important to prevention work, as well as strategies for moving past stigmas and creating meaningful educational opportunities.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office on Women’s Health hosted a webinar featuring the Community Preventive Services Task Force recommendation for interventions to prevent intimate partner violence and sexual violence among youth. Experts discussed the systematic review evidence used as the basis for this recommendation, noted resources available to help communities get started, and shared how communities in Indiana and Kentucky reduced violence in their communities.
